Acrylic Outdoor Pickleball Court Installation

Acrylic is the traditional standard for outdoor pickleball courts — smooth, durable, competition-ready, and the surface players associate with serious play. TSS installs outdoor acrylic pickleball courts for backyards, clubs, municipalities, and competition venues across Canada.

Why Acrylic for Outdoor Pickleball

The Classic Surface for a Reason

Acrylic has been the standard finish for outdoor racquet game courts for decades — and pickleball is no exception. When players step onto an acrylic court, they know immediately what to expect: a smooth, consistent surface with predictable ball response, reliable grip underfoot, and a professional appearance that holds up beautifully over time.

For clubs, municipalities, and facilities that want their pickleball courts to look and feel like the real thing, acrylic is the natural choice. And for homeowners who want that same professional-grade experience in their own backyard, a well-installed acrylic pickleball court delivers it.

As Canada’s Official Court Supplier for Pickleball Ontario and the Official Court Flooring Partner of the CNPL, TSS has installed acrylic pickleball courts at competitive venues, private clubs, and residential properties across Canada. Every installation starts with the foundation — and ends with a surface that’s ready to play at whatever level you bring to it.

For Backyard Pickleball Courts

A Permanent, Polished Court in Your Own Backyard

An acrylic pickleball court is a permanent installation — bonded directly to your concrete base, finished to a professional standard, and built to handle Canadian weather year after year without losing its performance or its appearance.

For homeowners who want a dedicated pickleball court that looks the part from day one and stays that way for years, acrylic delivers a result that’s genuinely hard to beat. Clean lines, vibrant court colours, and a smooth playing surface that performs consistently whether you’re a beginner learning the kitchen rules or a competitive player drilling for the next tournament.

TSS handles every aspect of a residential acrylic installation — base assessment, any required surface preparation, coating application, and precise court line marking — so the finished court is exactly what you envisioned.

Best for: Dedicated backyard pickleball courts, homeowners who want a permanent polished finish, competitive recreational players, multi-sport residential surfaces where a traditional court feel is preferred

Competition-Ready Courts for Clubs and Communities

For clubs, recreation centres, municipalities, and schools, acrylic is the outdoor pickleball surface that most competitive players expect to find at a quality facility. It’s the surface used at club championships, municipal tournaments, and provincial competition venues — and when players arrive at your facility, the surface tells them immediately whether the facility takes the sport seriously.

TSS installs commercial acrylic outdoor pickleball courts to USA Pickleball and Pickleball Ontario standards where required. For facilities hosting sanctioned competition, our competition-grade acrylic tier meets the surface specifications governing bodies require. For facilities focused primarily on recreational programming, our standard tiers deliver the quality and durability your membership expects at a more accessible investment level.

Best for: Private clubs, recreation centres, municipalities, schools and universities, competition venues, facilities hosting Pickleball Ontario sanctioned events

The Foundation Matters

A Great Acrylic Court Starts Below the Surface

The most common cause of premature acrylic court failure isn’t the coating — it’s inadequate base preparation before the coating goes down. Cracks in the substrate, poor drainage, and surface contamination all compromise the finished result no matter how good the acrylic system is.

TSS begins every acrylic pickleball installation with a thorough base assessment. We repair what needs repairing, verify drainage, clean the surface completely, and only apply the acrylic system once we’re confident the foundation is right. It adds time at the start of the project — and it’s the reason our courts still look and play well years after installation.

  • Subfloor assessment and crack repair
  • Drainage verification and correction where needed
  • Full surface cleaning prior to coating application
  • Proper curing time between coating layers

Court Configuration

Pickleball Court Dimensions & Layout for Acrylic Installations

A regulation pickleball court is 20 feet wide by 44 feet long, with a non-volley zone extending 7 feet from the net on each side. The recommended total playing area including safe out-of-bounds space is 30 feet by 60 feet per court.

Every TSS acrylic pickleball installation is laid out to regulation dimensions with precisely applied court lines. For multi-court commercial installations, TSS plans the full layout before any coating is applied to ensure optimal court spacing and consistent line placement across all courts.

For residential installations where space is a constraint, TSS will assess your available area and advise honestly on whether a full regulation layout is achievable or whether a modified configuration better serves your property.

Common Questions

Acrylic Outdoor Pickleball, Answered

How does acrylic hold up through Canadian winters?

Acrylic surfaces hold up well through Canadian freeze-thaw cycles when properly installed on a sound, well-drained base. The key is base preparation — a well-drained, properly leveled concrete base prevents the water infiltration that causes cracking and surface damage over time. TSS takes base preparation seriously on every installation for exactly this reason.

Acrylic delivers a smooth, seamless hardcourt feel that players familiar with club and tournament courts immediately recognize. SnapSports tiles offer superior drainage — playable faster after rain — and the modular format allows individual tile replacement if damage occurs. Acrylic is the traditional competition surface; SnapSports offers more practical flexibility. Both play excellently for pickleball. Our team will help you choose based on your priorities.

In many cases, yes. If your existing concrete base is structurally sound, resurfacing with a fresh acrylic coating system can restore performance and appearance without the cost of a full rebuild. TSS will assess your existing surface and recommend the most practical path forward.

Our Competition Acrylic tier meets USA Pickleball and Pickleball Ontario surface certification standards. If you’re building a facility intended for sanctioned tournament or league play, let us know upfront and we’ll ensure the surface specification, line markings, and court dimensions all meet the requirements.
