Pickleball Court Dimensions & Space Requirements
A regulation pickleball court is 20 feet wide by 44 feet long, with a non-volley zone (the kitchen) extending 7 feet from the net on each side. The recommended total playing area, including out-of-bounds space for safe play, is 30 feet by 60 feet per court.
TSS designs every pickleball court installation to regulation dimensions and ensures line markings are precise and correctly positioned. For multi-court installations, we plan the full layout before installation begins to maximize court count within your available space while maintaining safe spacing between courts.
For backyard installations where space is tight, TSS will assess your available area and advise on what’s achievable — including whether a regulation court fits, or whether a modified layout is the more practical solution.

How many pickleball courts fit in a standard backyard?
A regulation pickleball court including recommended out-of-bounds space requires approximately 30 by 60 feet, or about 1,800 sq ft. Most medium and large backyard court installations accommodate one full pickleball court comfortably. Some larger properties fit two. TSS will assess your property and give you a realistic picture of what’s achievable during the consultation.
Can pickleball lines be combined with other sports on one surface?
Yes. Multi-sport line configurations combining pickleball with basketball, volleyball, or other sports are one of our most popular requests for residential and commercial installations. Each sport’s lines are applied in a distinct colour for clear visual separation during play.
How long does installation take?
Most residential outdoor pickleball court installations are completed within one to two days once the concrete base is ready. Commercial multi-court projects vary depending on scale. From sign-off, TSS typically has clients playing on their new court within four weeks.
